In 1961 the film Hadaka no shima/ Naked Island by Kaneto Shindo won a Grand Prix at the II Moscow International Film Festival, which got Shindo the glory of the known world wide director. On the 28th of April of 2008 one of the greatest filmmakers of Japan celebrated his 96th birthday, he is still working productively in cinema: Teacher and three children is his 44th director’s work.
